Ask Melissa: Why Didn’t I Get Free Shipping?

We get this question a lot, especially during sales and promotions:

“I saw a pop-up saying I was eligible for free shipping, but I was still charged for it at checkout. Why?”

Totally fair question—let me explain how it works!

Our Free Shipping Policy (USA Only)

We offer free shipping on orders over $125 — but there are a couple of important details:

  • $125 subtotal must be before tax and shipping
  • ✅ The $125 total is calculated after any discount codes or promotions are applied
  • 🚫 If a coupon drops your total below $125, free shipping no longer applies

📦 Example:

Let’s say you add $132 worth of product to your cart.
→ You apply a 15% discount code, which brings your total to $112.20.
→ Since your new subtotal is under $125, the system removes free shipping automatically.

It’s not a glitch — it’s just the way Shopify calculates eligibility.

💡 Melissa’s Tip:

If you’re just a few dollars away from the free shipping threshold, it might be worth adding another item (like ribbon, floral picks, or a sign!) instead of paying for shipping.

Think of it as choosing product over postage.

Still Not Sure?

Evergreen Wreaths

As we transition from the cozy tones of fall into the frosty calm of winter, there’s something refreshing about bringing greenery indoors. Whether you're decking the halls for the holidays or just want a seasonal refresh, an evergreen wreath is a timeless and versatile piece to carry you through the winter months.

A Winter Wreath That Works All Season Long

Today, I’m sharing a simple (but stunning) mixed evergreen wreath you can make yourself, using a grapevine base and a few of my favorite greenery picks. This design leans winter, not overly Christmas, which makes it perfect to hang from December through February.

And don't worry—if DIY isn’t your thing, I’ve got some pre-made options available too

Watch the Tutorial

In this tutorial, I show you:

  • How to use the "Ring Around the Rosie" method to build fullness
  • Why I love mixing greenery types for texture
  • How to add subtle details like snowy pip berries without overdoing it
  • What to do if you want to stop early or go all out
  • Optional styling ideas: bows, pinecones, flocked greens, or berries

Even though it’s easy to make, the end result is lush, textured, and absolutely beautiful.

What You’ll Need

Here are a few of the products used in the wreath:

  • 14” grapevine base
  • Mixed pine greenery sprays (4 recommended)
  • Additional evergreen stems for layering
  • Snowy pip berry picks (or pinecones for a rustic touch)
  • Wire cutters and hot glue
  • Optional: ribbon for a bow

All the product links are included in the video description, and some pre-assembled bases are also available.

Let’s Talk Winter Styling…

Once you’ve created your wreath (or picked one up), the fun part begins—styling it in your home! Winter decorating is all about embracing the natural, the cozy, and the calm after the chaos of Christmas.

Here are a few ideas to help you style your new evergreen wreath:

1. Hang it on a rustic white door or mirror

Just like I did for the photo above. The contrast of the fresh greenery against a white background makes everything pop.

2. Layer with soft winter neutrals

Think creamy whites, soft taupes, pale gray, and wood tones. Add in fuzzy blankets, pinecones, or birch logs to create a warm, wintry vibe.

3. Use it indoors as a centerpiece base

Lay your wreath flat and place a hurricane candle or lantern in the center for a stunning table centerpiece.

4. Style it on your porch for a winter welcome

Pair it with fresh logs, a pair of faux skates, or a lantern for a cozy, cabin-like front porch look.

5. Add seasonal elements as winter progresses

You can clip in heart picks for Valentine’s Day or pastel ribbons for early spring. This wreath is so versatile—it can evolve with the season!

Pro Designer Tip: It’s All in the Greenery

The key to making this wreath feel high-end is the greenery. We mix textures intentionally—soft pine, fir sprigs, and cedar branches—to mimic what you'd see outdoors. The layering creates dimension and movement.

Don’t be afraid to snip, fluff, and adjust as you go. And remember: not every wreath needs a bow!
