How to Make a Pastel Christmas Swag | Whimsical Holiday Design
Share
Looking for a soft, whimsical twist on holiday decor? This pastel Christmas swag combines icy mint greens, soft pinks, snowy greenery, and an XL lollipop focal point for a playful, elegant look that stands out beautifully on your front door or mantel. It's perfect if you want something festive without going full-on red and green.
Why I Love This Design
This project is a great way to get creative with layering and color while using up those beautiful pastel sprays and ornaments you've been collecting. I started with a 30" flocked teardrop base and layered in a 24" pine swag for a fuller look. You’ll see in the video how I glue and zip-tie everything into place and build out the shape with glittered pine, cedar, eucalyptus, and custom bows.
This design was inspired by the trending pastel Christmas palettes—think winter candyland, but a little more refined. It’s feminine, festive, and has just the right amount of sparkle.

Design Tips from the Tutorial
- Double Up Your Base: Layering two swags together gives you the fullness and real estate to work with for bigger, showier designs.
- Use Lightweight Ornaments: Foam ornaments glue easily and don’t weigh down your swag.
- Create Movement: Let tails drape or loop ribbon for added flow and softness.
- Layer Greenery: Start with pine and cypress, then build dimension with eucalyptus and glossy leaves for interest.
- Secure in Multiple Ways: I use zip ties, pipe cleaners, glue, and even floral pins to keep everything snug.
